CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY
Our focus
Cyell is aware of its responsibility and is motivated to produce with as little harm to people and the environment as possible. Good working conditions and a healthy environment are important to us; this is where our focus lies in the coming years.
In early 2024, we had a study conducted for our company to identify opportunities and risks for sustainability, the outcome has given us more insight into our strengths and weaknesses, and has been the basis for our sustainability plan 2024-2026. In 2026 we will draw up a new plan to enable us to take further steps in the coming years on the topics that are important to us.
Laying down agreements
We have a Cyell Code of Conduct which sets out our agreements with suppliers. The Code of Conduct contains agreements on important points such as safe working conditions, no child labor, no forced labor and responsible purchasing practices. This code is signed Cyell and by the suppliers. If individuals believe that Cyell are not abiding by this code of conduct, they may submit their complaint by e-mail to info@cyell.com. Cyell will review the complaint and take appropriate action.
Safe factories
Cyell works with a handful of factories in China, all factories have a valid audit and are working to improve where necessary. We are in direct dialogue with the factories about this.
Transparency and traceability
Cyell finds it important to know the factories where its products are made, and where the materials used come from. The swimwear of Cyell comes from factories that are visited regularly and have a valid BSCI social audit or are GRS certified.
Recycled materials
The products of Cyell are made of more than 90% synthetic materials, some of which are made from recycled materials. Cyell uses no animal materials in its products.
GRS Certification
Cyell is certified by Control Union for the Global Recycle Standard (GRS) under number CB-CUC-1356911 since August 2024. Products certified to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) contain recycled material that has been (independently) verified at each stage of the supply chain, from the source to the final product. In addition, social, environmental, and chemical criteria related to processing are required. More information about GRS can be found here.
In the 2026 collection, 50% of the items have an outer fabric that is GRS-certified recycled polyamide, and 6% of the items have an outer fabric that is GRS-certified recycled polyester.
Chemicals
For our policy regarding the safe use of chemicals, we follow the Oeko-Tex 100 standard, which follows legislation regarding the use of chemicals in the EU. Our goal is to source only products that are Oeko-Tex 100 certified. In the 2026 collection, all swimwear has Oeko-Tex 100 certification.
Packaging
For Cyell's packaging, we are working towards using materials with a smaller footprint. 96% of the 2026 collection is packaged in polybags made of 100% recycled plastic.
Footprint
In 2024, Cyell's total emissions were 29 tCO₂, divided into 14 tCO₂ in Scope 1, 11 tCO₂ in Scope 2, and 4 tCO₂ in Scope 3. Based on this measurement, we are looking at how we can reduce our company's footprint in the future. In the coming years, we will also start working on calculating product footprints.
